INSTITUTE FOR YOUTH AND DEVELOPMENT (IYD)
Genesis
Vishwa Yuvak Kendra, Delhi, a pioneering organization in the area of youth development opened its regional center at Bangalore in 1972, to support Department of Youth Services,
Government of Karnataka in developing youth programs. In 1978 IYD became an independent organization to focus on youth, women and the marginalized poor.

Objectives
To equip youth, women and marginalised poor with skills that enable them to function as catalysts in the process of change
- To promote co-ordination among youth and social development organizations in India for sustainable development
- To empower socially and economically weaker sections of their rights and entitlements
- To encourage the spirit of voluntary work by revitalizing local youth and community groups
- Strategic solidarity by forming a common forums of voluntary agencies and community groups concerned with growth and development
- To seek affiliation to national and international organizations for the welfare of youth, at both the national and international levels
- To further Community development, by undertaking social and sustainable livelihood programs in collaboration with development organizations, banks government departments and international agencies
- To initiate and build need-based sustainable rural development projects in Environment, Health, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Sericulture, Income Generation etc.
